Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: - Will Smith underwent surgery to remove a cancerous tumor in the colon, according to a video posted on the photo sharing site Instagram.

Smith appeared in the video as he was hospitalized in Miami for the operation. Later in the video, his doctor told him that a gastroenterologist had found a cancerous tumor during the procedure, where he was removed and sent to the lab.

The results confirmed that it was a pre-cancerous tumor and that 95% of colon cancers originate from this type of benign tumor.

Doctor Smith was described as extremely lucky because of the early removal of the tumor.

He could have had less typical symptoms, and by the time he could have spread throughout his body.
