Joaquin Phoenix, a Golden Globe winner for his portrayal of "The Joker", was arrested by police for the protests against climate change organized by actress Jane Fonda.

Wakeen Phoenix has participated in protests over the risks of climate change in Washington, D.C., and has demanded that the government pay attention to climate issues along with other celebrities such as Maggie Gyllenhaal and Martin Sheen.

According to US police reports, 147 people were arrested during Friday's demonstration in front of the US Congress building, including Wakin Phoenix and Martin Sheen.

The American magazine People reported that the police released the 45-year-old Phoenix and the 79-year-old Shane after a short period, during which the two were held by the police after accusing them of blocking the road and causing crowding.
