After welcoming the participants and presenting them to the speakers at the press conference, Chiraz Laatiri evoked the importance of the professional meetings held at the founding session of the “Manarat” Festival while highlighting the joint cooperation and production of a number of Arab projects with the French National Center for Cinema and Animated Image, or with the Mediterranean or Arab funds, pointing out the French and Belgian support for a Lebanese and a Palestinian film.
Chiraz Laatiri also briefly spoke about a platform for the Arab film, saying: "We will keep this as a surprise to announce it during the Menarat Festival in addition to several professional meetings with seven Arab film centers from Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon , And Jordan which are working hard to find new means for joint cinematic cooperation”.
Dora Bouchoucha, Director of the "Manarat" Festival announced the date of the second session of the Festival which will be held on July 01 – 07. 2019 in ten Tunisian beaches. The projection of these films will be free, aiming thus to create a cinematic dynamic during summer, through a number of beach shows.
Dora Bouchoucha considers that this festival represents an opportunity for the Tunisian film lovers to discover new Mediterranean productions.
Sophie Renaud, Director of the French Institute in Tunisia, spoke about the importance of the festival and said that the institute was enthusiastic about the idea of such an event and followed its creation with Dora Bouchoucha until it reached its founding session last year. She also thanked all the partners of the festival, starting with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts, BIAT, Orange Tunisia, the media partners and others.
The representative of the French National Center for Cinema and Animated Image said that the Center is participating with 17 films at the 72nd session of the Cannes Film Festival, that it participated in their production and support, including "Tlames" by the Tunisian director "Alaeddine Salim" in the" Fortnight of Directors" section, as well as four films in the official competition.
The Center also supported the film "Weldi" by director Mohamed Ben Attia, who participated in the " Fortnight of Directors " last year.
