Jordanian actor Mohammad Nizar starred in Cagebirds play that took part in the 1st editionofEazees International Women's Theatre Festival (September 15th – 21st) in Cairo, Egypt.

The play was screened at one of the theaters of Cairo Opera House on Saturday, September 18th, receiving a wide acclaim by the audience, who were full of praise for Nizar's performance.

This marks a new exceptional step in Mohammad Nizar's career after recently landing his directional and writing debut "Hakam" one that he also stars in.

Cagebirds is based on a classic play of the same name, by English writer David Campton.

The play tackles the theme of seeking freedom, following a jailer who captures a wild bird (Mohammad Nizar) and put it in a cage with three other old birds.

However, this new bird is ready to do whatever it takes to free himself and the other caged birds with him. The play is directed by Sameera Asir, who stars in it along with Majd Eid, Ibrahim Nawabneh, and Almothana Alqawasmeh.

Mohammad Nizar has recently landed several successful projects, starring in  two new short films, namely; Rolling, and The Card Players. This comes shortly after landing his two shorts; Selahy, which is competing within the Competition Shorts at the Bentonville Film Festival, and The Ghosts We Left at Home, which screened in a number of international festivals in 2020.

His recent works also include the award-winning films Gaza Mon Amour, by directors Tarzan and Arab Nasser, and Five Boys and A Wheel, which was headlined by the international actor Ali Suliman.

Eazees International Festival is an annual festival, specified in stage plays with interest in women’s issues, which is an integral part of the local and international societies.

The festival also highlights the stage plays created by women highlighting the feminist creativity.

The first edition of the festival is named after the great writer Fathia Al-Assal, whereas the famous actress Sawsan Badr is the Honorary Chair of the festival.
