The French authorities announced the outbreak of a huge fire, which destroyed more than 850 hectares of forest, while 900 firefighters are working to combat it, and the fire also led to power outages in homes in France as well.
The Spanish newspaper "AS" said that a high-pressure line in the Spanish electricity network was damaged by a fire that broke out in the forests of France, causing damage to electricity that affected Portugal, and hundreds of thousands of people were cut off from electricity in Spain.
The power outages also affected many regions, including Catalonia, Madrid, Andalusia and Extremadura, after forest fires in France caused a problem in the electricity supply, and many homes in Spain remained without electricity for about 45 minutes.
The National Electricity Network confirmed to the Spanish news agency (EFE) that the electricity had been restored after the outage.
Several regions in Portugal were also subjected to power cuts due to a malfunction in the European electricity network, according to the branch of the Portuguese Electricity Company responsible for distribution.
Among the affected areas, according to Portuguese media, are Lisbon, Chintra, Estoril and Setúbal in the capital, Villa Nova de Famalicao, Guimaraes and Braga in the north and part of the Algarve in the south of the country.
