Recently, the Egyptian authorities thwarted a scheme aimed at financing the banned Muslim Brotherhood, which is classified as a terrorist organization.
According to a statement issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Interior, the former head of the Juhayna Dairy and Juice Company, Safwan Thabet, who is currently imprisoned, is behind the scheme to finance and manage the funds of the Muslim Brotherhood.
The ministry stated that the Safwan Thabet companies were behind the transfer and concealment of the organization's funds, and the investment of its proceeds for the benefit of terrorist activities.
The ministry added that it had found $8.4 million and ammunition in an apartment in Giza Governorate.
She described Thabet as one of the leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood.
Thabet was arrested in December 2020, and his son Seif El-Din was detained in February 2021 after he assumed the position of chairman of the company's board of directors.
